Elections

April 24, 2013

Pursuant to the CCSU-AAUP Constitution, Article VII Elections, “A majority of the votes cast shall be required for election. If no candidate for an office receives a majority of the votes cast, there shall be a run-off election for that office between the two top vote getters, and those who tie them.” In the recent CCSU-AAUP election only three of the candidates for the four CSU-AAUP Council Representative positions received a majority of the votes cast and none of the three candidates for the Delegate-At-Large positions received a majority of the votes cast. Therefore, a run-off election for one Council Representative and two Delegates-At-Large will be held, beginning on Friday, April 26, at 7:00 am and ending on Friday, May 3, at 12:00 noon.

The candidates for Council Representative are:

Following are the results from the recent CCSU-AAUP election. Congratulations to those who were elected and thank you to all of the candidates for your willingness to serve your colleagues. The following candidates were elected:

President – MaryAnn Mahony

Vice president – Guy Crundwell

Secretary – Jacob Werblow

Treasurer – Mark Cistulli

At-large – runoff (see below)

At-large – runoff (see below)

Council –- Stephen Adair

Council – Jason Jones

Council – Paul Petterson

Council – runoff (see below)

Pursuant to the CCSU-AAUP Constitution, “If no candidate for an office receives a majority of the votes cast, there shall be a run-off election for that office between the two top vote getters, and those who tie them.”

Since 172 votes were cast, 87 votes are necessary for election. None of the three candidates for Delegate-at-large achieved the necessary majority. Three of the candidates for CSU-AAUP Council Representative, Stephen Adair, Jason Jones and Paul Petterson all received a majority (87). Therefore, CCSU-AAUP will need to have a runoff election for the two (2) Delegate-at-large positions and one (1) Council position. Look for more information soon from CCSU-AAUP about the runoff election.
